Taiya Smith is with the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, a US think tank. Smith managed former US Treasurry Secretary Henry Paulson's relationship with China. As Paulson's representative and lead negotiator in China, she also led the US government's economic engagement with China through the China-US Strategic Economic Dialogue.
Taiya Smith spoke highly of the first round of China-US Strategic and Economic Dialogue, which concluded on Tuesday in Washington.
Smith said the dialogue has settled a foundation for the relationship of the two countries' continuous development. This is one of the most important achievements of the dialogue.
Smith said the dialogue between the two countries shows that the US values its relationship with China.
Smith said the two countries' common views in economic and financial fields will help restore the global economy.
Smith stressed that the dialogue is a good beginning. She urged the two countries to continue their cooperation to achieve more.
