Guo's only stumble came on her fourth attempt, when she started for a forward 2 somersault with a twist. She just received 67.50 for that attempt. But the two-time Olympic champion didn't let that phase her and blew away the field with her perfect fifth and last attempt. Guo captured her first springboard world title in 2001, and hasn't lost since in the biennial competition. She now has a staggering nine world titles overall, more than any other diver.
Guo Jingjing said:"I don't compete with others, I just compete with myself. I just thought of diving well in every attempt."
The silver went to Emilie Heymans of Canada, and Tania Cagnotto of Italy thrilled the home crowd by taking third, the first medal for the hosts.
