David Beckham is back in the United States for his first practice with the L-A Galaxy. Beckham played for Italian club AC Milan during a five-month loan. His return to California is being overshadowed by comments from team-mate Landon Donovan, who questioned Beckham's qualifications to be team captain.

Beckham said he had spoken to Donovan and team manager Bruce Arena. Both Beckham and Donovan said the conversation went very well.
Q. Have you had a chance to talk to Landon?
A. Yep
Q. How'd that go?
A. Very good. Very good.
Q. What was the conversation like between you two?
A. Nothing, I'm not I'm not going to talk about what was said. That was between me, Landon and the manager (Bruce Arena). But it's finished. It's over and we'll move on. Big game on Thursday."
Q. Can you talk a little bit about what was said between the two of you?
A. No I can't. That's personal, but we're moving on and I look forward to it."
Beckham wouldn't give any further details about the conversation, but said that the issue would not be a distraction for the team.
Beckham said:"No the team knows as soon as they see us training and playing together. The team knows. These things happen all the time in soccer. It happens in Europe. It happens probably every week in Europe. Sometimes they aren't as highly publicised as obviously this one. Sometimes they are. So it happens all the time."
Beckham plays his first game of the season with the Galaxy when L-A faces the Red Bulls on Thursday.
