Meanwhile supporters of the coup have been taking to the streets. The largest pro-Micheletti rally was in Choluteca, 120 kilometres south of the capital.
There has been no report of clashes between the two groups of demonstrators.
Also on Wednesday, France, Spain, Italy, Chile and Colombia joined other nations in recalling their ambassadors from Honduras over the ousting of President Manuel Zelaya.
The Pentagon suspended joint US-Honduran military operations and the World Bank said it was freezing loans.
And the Organization of American States gave Micheletti until Saturday to step aside before Honduras is suspended from the group.
