France is boasting a successful Fete de la musique. The annual day-long music celebration was held around the world Sunday.
At the French presidential palace in Paris, hundreds of people turned out for a series of concerts. The palace was open to the public especially for the event.
According to organizers, more than 10-thousand concerts were held in parks, restaurants, cafes, bars and subway stations throughout n France. Even a children's band got in on the act, performing a show organized by the French National Musical Instrument Industry Association.
Fete de la musique was founded in 1982 by Maurice Fleuret, France's then-Director of Music and Dance, as a way of showcasing musical talent of all kinds.
Fete de la musique is now celebrated in 120 countries and 350 cities around the world.
