The 2nd International Festival of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Chengdu, China opened on Monday.
Hosted by Ministry of Culture and Sichuan provincial government and UNESCO, it is the first international cultural festival in China held by UNESCO and the first large-scale cultural activity in Sichuan province after Wenchuan Earthquake on May 12, last year.
With a theme of "Varied Ethnic Cultures and Common Spirit Home" ,the festival will last for 13 days. More than 600 performances and 300 activities like street tour will be staged in the festival.
It is estimated that more than 6 million visitors, including tourists from 40 countries, will attend the festival.
