After finishing second in the 100 meter backstroke Saturday, Michael Phelps conceded once again to Frederick Bousquet of France in Sunday's 100-metre freestyle at the Charlotte UltraSwim in North Carolina.

Phelps received the usual cheers from the crowd when he made his entrance at the swimming pool. But the Olympic champion's new tactics in the freestyle didn't seem to help him much, as Frenchman Frederick Bousquet went on to establish his advantage early in the race.
The Charlotte UltraSwim was Phelps first competing event after Beijing, and he appeared to be a little emotional about his performance.
Mihael Phelps said, "... so this is my first meet back and there were some things that really excited me and really made me happy but there were also some things that really made me upset. It is going to be a good few weeks leading into the World Champ trials."
