EU diplomats say the European Union will endorse a call for an independent war crimes investigation into the killing of civilians in Sri Lanka.

Thousands of civilians were reportedly killed in the recent fighting. The UN says seven-thousand civilians were killed in the fighting between January 20th and May 7th.
