US President Barack Obama says his economic plan is far from perfect but absolutely necessary. Obama made the comments before taking his family on their first visit to Camp David, the presidential retreat in Maryland.
The President says it's too dangerous to leave the stimulus plan lifeless on the table. White House aides are not satisfied with the tenuous Senate-brokered compromise.
However, they're trying to make sure the administration's first legislative priority doesn't collapse in public rebuke. The measure is likely to pass next week despite stiff opposition from Republicans and disappointment among Democrats.
