Premier Wen Jiabao and Chancellor Angela Merkel have agreed to enhance the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Germany during their meeting in Berlin.

Wen Jiabao says the two countries should strengthen cooperation in various fields, especially in light of the world economic downturn. He welcomes German enterprises playing a active role in promoting technical innovation and upgrading China's industrial structure.
Merkel says Wen Jiabao's visit has further promoted bilateral relations. She says Germany is ready to promote cooperation in improving energy efficiency, environmental protection and intellectual property protection.
Merkel also called on the two nations to further enhance trade and economic relations. On Thursday, China and Germany signed six deals, including cooperation in technology, climate protection and the auto industry.
