The ancient land of the Inca opened its first international comic book festival on Tuesday. Fanciers of comics from around the world came. They headed straight for Peru's national library for the inaugural of the "Mundo Viñeta" festival.
Organized by local chapters of the Alliance Francaise and the Goethe Institute, the international comic book festival showcases over 7,000 pieces.

Satirical cartoonists and writers from France, Switzerland, Spain, Germany and Peru, are participating in the festival. The program creates a profile of the evolution of cartoons in each country, from their early beginnings to the present.
