Torch sets its foot in Beijing.[CCTV.com]

Well-known historical sites, including the Great Wall, the Temple of Heaven, and the Temple of Earth, etc. are all included on the route.
Organizers have chosen Meridian Gate Square of the Forbidden City as the place to kick off the relay on Wednesday.
Sun Xuecai, Deputy Director of Beijing Sports Administration, said, "Tian'anmen Square and the Forbidden City are both models representing Chinese ancient architecture. They are the best places to show Beijing's history and rich culture.”
A total of 841 people will carry the torch during the relay.
The torch bearers come from all walks of life. Popular figures such as folk singer Song Zuying, and basketball star Yao Ming are on the list. Ordinary people will also have the opportunity to participate.
As a torchbearer, Dong Xuefa, a migrant worker, said, "When my parents heard the news that I was selected as torch bearer, they burst into tears. And many of my fellow villagers said they will share this honor with me."
The organizers also say they are well-prepared for the three-day event. And that they have a series of back-up plans to guarantee a smooth, safe and joyful relay in Beijing.
