2. Mt. Yuantong in Yunnan Province

Best time to view: end of February to end of March

Located in Kunming City in southwest China's Yunnan Province, Mt. Yuantong boasts the most beautiful cherry blossoms on the Chinese mainland. Every year during the blooming season, Mt. Yuantong turns itself into a sea of flowers for non-stop visitors.

Other highlights: apart from wandering through the cherry blossoms, visitors can also appreciate other spring flowers, like plum blossoms, sweet-scented osmanthus, Chinese roses and many more. Animals come out too: tigers, peacocks, pandas, red-crowned cranes, African zebras, ostriches and Australian kangaroos can be seen at Mt. Yuantong.
