"Merry Christmas!" waved the children in unison, their little faces lit up with indescribable excitement as the volunteers left the school.

But they aren't the only group doing good this holiday season. Four French students followed in the example of a Chinese former student from Qinghai and have taken it upon themselves to do their part for those in need.

Several years ago, Qinghai Province native Renzenghuamao (Evelyn), observed a pattern in her dormitory that gave her an idea.

"A lot of students are leaving at the end of the semester, and often times when you leave, you cannot take everything with you," Alexandre Phi explains.

Evelyn and several French students took advantage of the opportunity to collect the clothes students left behind and donate them to poor rural people in Qinghai Province.

Deeply impressed by the example of their friends, Antoine Arnoud, Hugo Salamanca, Richard Huynh, and Alexandre Phi, agreed to carry on this tradition on their own but under the supervision of their university, since Evelyn and her friend have since moved to France.
