The Miami Heat's Dwyane Wade and the Utah Jazz's Mehmet Okur
today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the
Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Jan. 27, through
Sunday, Feb. 4.
Wade, who also won the award for the week of Jan. 8-14, averaged
33.7 points, 7.3 assists, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals in helping
lead Miami to a 3-0 week. He scored 41 points, including a
franchise-record 23 free throws made, and added five assists, four
rebounds and three steals in a 92-89 win over Cleveland on Feb. 1.
He also registered 32 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds and four
steals in a 117-98 win at Milwaukee on Feb. 3. Wade now has scored
at least 20 points in a franchise record 14 straight games.
Okur averaged 26.0 points, 11.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.0
steals as Utah posted a 2-1 record on the week, including wins over
two of the Western Conference top teams. He scored 29 points and
added 12 rebounds in a 97-93 win over San Antonio on Jan. 31, and
posted 29 points and 12 rebounds in a 108-105 win at Phoenix on
Feb. 3.
