Fluminense star striker Fred spoke boldly on Monday regarding the future of his team, saying it will be unstoppable if he can remain healthy.
"If I am 100 percent, we will run over our opponents. We will win consistently. We have already proven our high potential. If any team were to deserve a title, it is Fluminense. If any fan group were to deserve the glory of its team's title, it is Fluminense's. I plan on returning and scoring goals. I plan on scoring once per-match. I hope that I can stay injury free and continue to play well," said Fred.
Earlier in Vitoria, Fred boasted that he is going to score 60 goals in 2010. During the first half of the Rio de Janeiro state championship, he scored twice, both off of penalty kicks. On Monday, he adjusted his figures, claiming he will score 40 goals while his partner, Alan, will score another 20.
Fred and Alan will play alongside each other for the first time in 2010 on Wednesday when they travel to play Confianca-Se in their debut of the Brazilian Cup.
Coincidentally, Fred holds the record for most goals ever scored in one single tournament of the Brazilian Cup. In 2005, he scored 14 goals while playing for Cruzeiro.
Should Fluminense win by a two-goal or more margin, they will avoid the return match against Confianca-SE and advance to the second phase of the tournament.
