Flamengo prevailed over Fluminense with a 1-0 win Sunday in the single round elimination of the semifinals after a week of trash talking between the two teams, local media reported on Monday.

The only goal of the game in the Maracana stadium came off the feet of Juan in the 31st minute as the midfielder took a wild shot rom the left hand side of the goal.

Fluminense's goalkeeper Fernando Henrique completely misjudged the ball's direction and could do nothing but watch as the ball rolled into the back of his net.

Flamengo will next face Botafogo in the finals of the second half of the state tournament. The finals of the second half of thestate tournament will take place on Sunday, April 19 at the Maracana stadium.

Fluminense club president Roberto Horcades had earlier said that Flamengo always fears to play his team.
