Kidd expected to stay in Dallas

Dallas Mavericks star Jason Kidd has agreed to a three-year contract, the NBA team said on Monday.

Team owner Mark Cuban said the contract is worth more than 25 million dollars.

The deal will keep the 37-year-old point guard with the Mavericks and could see him finish his NBA career with the same club that he began in the league back in 1994.

No deals can be completed until Wednesday under league rules even though the NBA free agent neogitation period began last week.

Kidd was traded to Mavericks more than a year ago from the New Jersey Nets after he helped the club reach the NBA Finals in 2002 and 2003.

The Mavericks struggled just to reach the NBA playoffs this past season.
