Spurs land Jefferson in three-team trade
Adjust font size:

The San Antonio Spurs have acquired high-scoring forward Richard Jefferson from the visiting Milwaukee Bucks in a three-team trade, the Spurs said on their website (www.nba.com/spurs) yesterday.

San Antonio sent Bruce Bowen and Kurt Thomas to the Bucks and Fabricio Oberto to the Detroit Pistons, who in turn sent Amir Johnson to Milwaukee.

"We are thrilled to add Richard Jefferson to the roster," San Antonio general manager R.C. Buford said in a statement on the website. "He is a talented, athletic player who can influence the game on both ends of the court."

Jefferson averaged 19.6 points and 4.6 rebounds per game last season for the Bucks.

The durable Jefferson played in all of his team's games over the last two seasons and should help the aging Spurs, who were blighted with injuries last season and made an uncharacteristic early exit from the playoffs.
