China demonstrated its power in the ongoing Philippine Badminton Open by sending all their shutters into men's and women's singles quarterfinals on Thursday.
All the five men participants and three women players from China reached the quarterfinals.
Chen Long outclassed Yogendran Krishnan of Indonesia, 21-13, 21-10, in a show of strength and precision. Gao Huan stopped Paul Jeremiah Co of the Philippines, 21-4, 21-6, while Zhou Wenlong won against Adnan Fauzi of Indonesia, 21-14, 21-19.
Lu Qicheng slashed Chan Yun Lung of Chinese Hong Kong, 21-16, 21-18, while Du Pengyu beat Sairul Ayob of Malaysia.
In women's singles, Jiang Yanjiao had a rout of 21-13, 21-12 against Le Ngoc Nguyen of Vietnam to reach the quarterfinals. Coming up next for Jiang will be Malvinne Alcala of the Philippines on Friday.
Wang Shixian and Wang Xin of China both eliminated the last Europeans standing in women's singles, beating Linda Zechiri of Bulgaria 15-21, 21-10, 23-21 and Nicole Grether of Germany, 21-8, 21-14.
Chinese shuttlers also did a good job in the mixed doubles division.
Zhang Nan and Lu Lu won againt Keisuke Kawaguchi and Rie Eto of Japan, 21-6, 21-13, and enter the quarterfinals.
Chen Zhiben and Zhang Jinkang beat Fran Kurniawan Teng and Pia Zebediah Bernadeth of Indonesia, 17-21, 21-16, 21-18. They will fight Albertus Susanto Njoto and Ng Ka Shun of Hong Kong.
Qiu Zihan and Deng Yuting stopped Filipino siblings Kennevic and Kennie Asuncion 19-21, 21-8, 21-16 and will play Hendra Gunawan and Vita Marissa of Indonesia.
In the women's doubles, Wang Siyun and Zhang Jinkang beat Malvinne Alcala and Gelita Castillo of the Philippines, 21-18, 21-9. Meanwhile, Gao Ling and Wei Yili advanced after defeating their Philippine opponents.
