Nets trade Carter to Magic in multi-player

Orlando Magic has acquired eight times All-Star guard Vince Carter from the New Jersey Nets in five-player trade, said the teams on Thursday.

Carter, who was born in Daytona Beach and has a home in Orlando, will join the Eastern Conference champions with forward Ryan Anderson in exchange for guards Rafer Alston and Courtney Lee, and forward Tony Battie.

The 32-year-old has averaged 23.5 points per game after 12 seasons in the league with the Toronto Raptors and the Nets.

"Vince (Carter) gives us a veteran, go-to scoring presence, especially at the end of games,"

Orlando general manager Otis Smith said in a statement. "Our goal remains the same -- to win a championship."

Orlando were beaten by the Los Angeles Lakers in five games in the NBA Finals earlier this month.
