Newly crowned world champions Guo Yue and Li Xiaoxia pocketed the US$ 9,000 prize money after winning the women's doubles title at the China Open here on Sunday.

Guo and Li, both 20, came from one set down to defeat Chinese teammates Li Xiaodan/Liu Shiwen 7-11, 11-7, 11-4, 11-4, 12-10 in the final.

Trying to manage a comeback late in the final, Li Xiaodan and Liu Shiwen, the youngest paddlers here in their teens, raced to a 5-1 lead in the fifth set but Guo and Li managed to claw back and turned the tables.

Guo and Li claimed their first world doubles title last month at the world championships in Yokohama, Japan, beating teammates Ding Ning and Guo Yan, the pair they beat here in the semifinals.
