Zheng Weigang's "Idols" are pictures of man-made landscapes. During the rapid urbanization and modernization of the past 20 years, political power collaborated with greedy commercial capital to produce strange and empty city landscapes. They can be seen everywhere: south and north, in workplaces and public gardens, even in residential areas. Zheng adopts a cynical and questioning attitude toward the fast growing Chinese economy and the social problems that lie hidden in the country's grand modern cities. (Curator: Liu Shuyong)
