China remains undefeated in Women's Goalball
Adjust font size:

China fought off a determined Japan to remain undefeated on top of the Women's Goalball table at the Beijing Institute of Technology Gymnasium on Thursday.

Defensive play dominated the first half, with neither team looking like they would score until Akiko Adachi of Japan unexpectedly found the net with just two seconds left before the whistle blew.

Lin Shan of China leveled the score early in the second half, 1-1.

The first real mistake of the game came from Masae Komiya of Japan. Chen Fengqing took advantage of the penalty to give China the lead for the first time in the game.

Xu Juan then scored to make it 3-1 and Japan's dream of an unlikely triumph came to an end.
