The Olympic torch relay will start its fourth and also the last leg in Fujian Province on Tuesday in Longyan, historically known as an ancestral home for Hakka people.
The Longyan relay, covering 30.5 kilometers with 208 torch bearers, is going to be launched on the People's Square, set to pass the Sports Park, Longyan Economic and Technological Development Zone, and Gutian Conference Site, where the monumental Gutian Conference was successfully convened in 1929 during the second National Revolutionary War.
The torch will end at the Square of Changting Railway Station, where a celebration will be held.
Longyan, located in the west of Fujian Province, is a main origin place habitation for Hakka people, who mainly migrated from central China since the Tang and Song Dynasties, created their unique culture, architecture, customs and living styles.
Presently about 1.2 million overseas Hakka people can find their roots in Longyan, and 700,000 to 800,000 Hakka people of Longyan origin live in Taiwan.
