Hong Kong Ocean Park's young panda couple Le Le and Ying Ying will soon embrace a "Kung Fu star " panda this summer, the park announced Tuesday.
Le Le and Ying Ying's new friend is named Po, whose lifelong dream of being a Kung Fu master finally comes true after an action-packed Kung Fu adventure in DreamWorks' latest animated feature Kung Fu Panda.
Hong Kong Ocean Park and DreamWorks Animation SKG will jointly present a Kung Fu Panda themed attraction, as the highlight of this year's summer event at the park. The attraction will bring to life scenes and icons of Kung Fu Panda, which starts showing in local cinemas from June 28.
"Being one of the only theme parks in the world that is home to four giant pandas, what better platform to present Kung Fu Panda than Hong Kong Ocean Park?" said Allan Zeman, the Chairman of Ocean Park.
April 26, 2008 will mark the first anniversary of the arrival of the pair of young giant pandas, Le Le and Ying Ying, presented by China's central government to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) as a gift to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland.
Hong Kong Ocean Park is launching "Looking for Panda" HKID card promotion, from April 26 to May 31, 2008. Winners of the promotion will get a trip for two to Sichuan province in southwest China to visit the pandas' hometown.
Le Le, male, and Ying Ying, female, both born at the Wolong Center in Sichuan province, came to Hong Kong on April 26, 2007. Since their arrival, they have been staying at the Giant Panda Habitat, joining the two other pandas, An An and Jia Jia, who have been living at Ocean Park since 1999.
