Mainland gets iPhone 4S on Jan. 13th

It will be lucky Friday the 13th for Chinese Apple fans. The much-anticipated iPhone 4S goes on sale on the Mainland next Friday, just days before Chinese New Year. The 16 gigabyte version is priced at 4,988 yuan, or just under 800 U.S. dollars. Our reporter Yin Hang hit the streets of Beijing, to get a feel for 4S mania.

A Taipei citizen presents an iPhone 4s that he received for free by taking part in a game activity in Taipei, southeast China's Taiwan, Dec. 16, 2011.

One Beijing consumer said: "I'm looking forward to the iphone 4S launch on the Mainland. Because it's very smart as a touch-screen mobile phone. And out of respect for Steve Jobs, we are concerned about every step of iphone sales in China."

Another Beijing consumer said: "iPhone apps are good. Using Apple products have become a popular trend among young Chinese."

A white Apple iPhone 4S is shown on display at an Apple Store in Clarendon, Virginia, October 14, 2011.

Another Beijing consumer said: "It's good, yes. But the price is high, compared with other cell phones on the market. We probably will not consider buying it. I'm using a Samsung phone right now."
