An incredible electric-blue lobster has been saved from the dinner table after it was spotted at a fish market and re-homed, the Daily Mail reported.

The striking crustacean was found by fishermen off the east coast of Scotland and displayed for sale at a London fish market. However, fishmonger Rex Goldsmith thought the stunning lobster was too nice to eat and bought it before handing it over to researchers.

"It's the most striking blue lobster I have seen in my 30 years in the business and was too nice to put in a pot and boil," he said.

Scientists believe the European lobster, traditionally a much darker shade of blue, hatched out with the unusual color due to a rare genetic variant.

龙虾因美色免被下锅煮

       一只令人称奇的铁青色龙虾在鱼市上出售时被人看中并重新安置，这才逃脱了被吃掉的命运。

       据英国《每日邮报》报道，苏格兰东海岸地区的渔民发现了这只异常美丽的甲壳纲动物，并把它带到伦敦的鱼市上展卖。鱼贩子雷克斯•戈德史密斯觉得这只龙虾太美了，就把它买下来交给了研究人员。

       他说：“入行30多年，这是我看到的最惊艳的青色龙虾了，实在不忍心把它丢进锅里煮了。”

       科学家称，该龙虾为欧洲龙虾，但这种龙虾一般都呈暗青色，是一次很少见的基因变异才赋予了它与众不同的色彩。

       据悉，这只龙虾已被送到伦敦水族馆，通过检疫后就将与观众见面。
