Ten years ago, American Airlines Flight Eleven crashed into the World Trade Center's North Tower in downtown New York. 92 lives were lost, including 5 hijackers. On board was flight attendant Betty Ong, who is of Chinese descendent. She was the first to tell emergency dispatchers of the hijacking minutes before it crashed.
Those were the chilling words describing the situation on board flight 11, as it barreled towards the North Tower. Throughout the terrifying ordeal, Ong remained calm while telling air transport authorities about the weapons used by the hijackers. She also provided their seat numbers, giving authorities a head start on tracking the hijacker's identities.

Born in 1956, Ong grew up in San Francisco's Chinatown. She began work as a flight attendant in 1987. Her heroic tale has touched the hearts of many in her community.
When Flight 11 crashed into the World Trade Center, the impact tore the aircraft in two, throwing one half two blocks away. There, police discovered a small piece of bone, which after DNA testing, proved to be Betty's remains.
