According to scientists, adult monkeys can recognize photographs of their friends, the BBC reported.

In an experiment, untrained Barbary macaques showed interest in photos of other monkeys but spent more time scrutinizing pictures of unfamiliar animals. Juvenile monkeys were fascinated, but puzzled by the photographs and often tried to greet or touch the animal in the image.

The findings suggest that primates learn over time to understand that photos are representations of faces. As well as adding to our knowledge of their intelligence, the findings, published in the journal Animal Cognition, could help in future studies of primate behavior. （点击英国广播公司网站查看原文）

猴子能从照片认朋友

       据英国广播公司报道，科学家发现，成年猴子可以从照片中认出自己的同伴。

       实验中，未经训练的巴巴利猕猴对照片颇有兴趣，而且花更多时间审视其不熟悉的动物照片。而未成年的猴子尽管被照片所吸引，但表情困惑，试图与其中的动物打招呼或者触摸它们。

       研究结果显示，灵长类动物随着年龄增长能意识到照片是面孔的缩影。这项发表在《动物认知》杂志上的成果，不但丰富了我们对猴子智力的认知，而且对未来灵长类动物行为研究也有很大帮助。
