China expressed concern over the anti-government protest in Thailand during a routine press conference Thursday in Beijing.
Thailand is a friendly neighbor of China. China is keeping an eye on the situation in Thailand, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said when asked to comment on the chaos.
"China wholeheartedly hopes Thailand can restore national stability, social harmony and economic growth," he said.
Political chaos continued in Bangkok on Thursday after anti-government protesters blockaded and shut down two major airports.
The People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) wants Thailand's government to resign.
Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat refused to cave in or dissolve the House, despite growing pressure from anti-government protesters and military leaders.
