Chinese artists have sent a welcoming message in an open letter to their counterparts worldwide on Sunday, inviting them to come to Beijing to enjoy the "feast" of both art and sports during the August Olympic Games.
According to the letter, endorsed by 119 Chinese artists including Peking opera artist Yu Kuizhi, film director Zhang Yimou and composer Xu Peidong, Beijing has prepared a "cultural feast" for worldwide artists during the Beijing Olympics.
Performances in various artistic forms including opera, ballet, modern dance, symphony, acrobatics, folk music, and traditional Chinese drama and opera would be staged.
The host city would also hold exhibitions on intangible cultural heritage and modern art.
More than 20,000 artists from various parts of the world and foreign artistic troupes would as well gather here to bring performances, according to the letter, titled "Let's Meet in Beijing".
By doing so, "we'd like to provide a cultural and artistic platform for mutual exchange among different countries and regions, ... and to convey the good wishes of 'One World, One Dream' hailed by the 2008 Beijing Olympics," the letter read.
