A suicide bomb attack struck a restaurant in the military base in Habaniyah in west of Baghdad on Thursday, killing 16 and wounding some 50 others, a military source said.
A suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt detonated himself in a restaurant inside the Habaniyah military base near the city of Fallujah, some 50 km west of Baghdad, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
The attacker was disguised in military uniform, the source said, adding that the victims were all Iraqi soldiers.
The latest deadly wave of car bombings indicates that insurgents could still cause fatal attacks despite recent security gains.
