U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will visit Japan on Feb. 16, Kyodo News quoted Japanese government sources as saying on Wednesday.
During her two-day visit, Clinton will meet with Prime Minister Taro Aso and Foreign Minister Hirofumi Nakasone for talks on North Korea's nuclear ambitions and abductions of Japanese nationals, as well as Afghan reconstruction and the global financial crisis, it said.
She may also talk with Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada.
Japan will be the first leg of her trip to Asian countries, possibly including South Korea and China, as her first overseas trip since assuming office.
