State Councilor Hua Jianmin met Austrian President Heinz Fisher and new chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer on Monday in Vienna.

Hua, the secretary-general of the State Council, said China and Austria have strengthened friendly relations and maintained wide and fruitful cooperation.

China appreciated Austria's adherence to the one-China policy, and will continue to promote bilateral cooperation, especially in the fields of energy-saving, renewable energy sources, environmental protection, administrative management and training of officials, Hua said.

President Fisher and Chancellor Gusenbaue spoke highly of the success of China in economic and social development, saying that Austria is ready to further cooperation with China in the future.

The two sides exchanged views on the development of China-Europe relations and other issues of common concern.

After the meeting with Austrian President and Chancellor, Hua also met with Austria's Minister for Economic Affairs and Labor Martin Bartenstein and visited municipal environmental protecting facilities.
