A new case of influenza A/H1N1 was reported in Venezuela, bringing the total number of the disease in the country to 45, Collective Health Networks Vice Minister Nancy Perez said on Tuesday.
The new case is a 42-year-old woman who returned from Chicago, the United States, on June 7.
Among the confirmed cases, 30 percent contracted the illness from directly contacting patients' relatives, while the rest are people who had traveled to the United States, Panama, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil.
The Venezuelan National Institute of Hygiene has tested 639 samples, of which 594 were negative.
