Vietnam confirmed more cholera cases in two other provinces of Vietnam, raising the number of people infected with the disease in the north of the country to 11, the local newspaper Labor reported Tuesday.
The two newly-confirmed Hoa Binh and Ha Nam northern provinces of Vietnam had reported cases of vibrio cholera, said Nguyen Huy Nga, head of Preventive Medicine and Environment Department of Vietnam's Ministry of Health.
Since the cholera epidemic broke out in Vietnam, there have been 534 people suffering from the acute diarrhea, of which 53 cases tested positive for the vibrio cholera bacteria, said Nga.
Vietnam also reported the first case died of the disease when the test sample showed positive for the vibrio cholera bacteria, said Nga.
Vietnam's Ministry of Health warned the country of high risk of an acute diarrhea outbreak in many other provinces of Vietnam in coming days.
Deputy Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Xuyen on Monday asked provincial health departments to work with their respective people' s committees to form steering committees to help combat and prevent acute diarrhea from spreading.
