The 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) started its fourth plenary session Tuesday to discuss the CPC building.
A draft decision of the CPC Central Committee on major issues concerning "strengthening and improving Party building in new situation" would be deliberated at the four-day session, the schedule of which was decided by a Sept. 8 meeting of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
Once adopted, the decision would become a key document to guide the work of Party building in new situation.
Before the session, the CPC central authority solicited advice from in and out of the Party in order to draft the decision, which embodies opinions and suggestion from various areas, departments and delegates to the 17th CPC National Congress.
The session will also hear the work report of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
The meeting was widely seen as a significant event half a month before the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China under the leadership of the CPC.
The meeting would review the experience of Party building since the CPC came into power in October 1949, and would give thorough analysis on new situation and challenges arising in the course of Party building.
Members of the CPC Central Committee would also discuss how to push forward the cause of Party building with a spirit of reform and creativeness.
This would help promote the practice of the Scientific Outlook on Development, an important concept endorsed by the CPC that emphasizes caring about the well-being of people and promoting comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development.
The meeting is also of great significance as China has been working hard to grapple with global economic downtown to maintain a steady and relatively fast economic growth.
