China issues high temperature alert for north regions

The National Meteorological Center (NMC)issued a high temperature alert Sunday morning, warning hot weather will hit northwest and central China, with maximum temperature reaching 45 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures would remain above 35 degrees Celsius (95 °F) in northern areas of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the South Xinjiang basin regions, with a maximum temperature at 43 to 45 degrees Celsuis (110 to 113 °F) in the Turpan Basin areas, it said.

The temperature would hit a high of 35 to 37 degree Celsius in the southern parts of Henan Province, central Shanxi Province, the southeast regions of Shaanxi Province, and western areas in Shandong Province, it said.

High temperature-affected areas would also include northwest Anhui Province, western parts in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and most parts of Hainan Province, according to the NMC.

The NMC urged relevant departments to take fire prevention measures, and cautioned individuals to avoid heatstroke.
