New York house music impresario Harry "Choo Choo" Romero makes his debut visit to Shanghai next Friday adding to the list of New York house music legends that have graced the decks at Club Bonbon including Roger Sanchez, Eric Morillo, Junior Sanchez, Kenny "Dope" Gonzales and "Lil" Louie Vega, the Masters at Work.
Romero co-founded the venerable house music record company "Subliminal Records" with Erick Morillo and Jose Nunez in 1997. Subliminal quickly rose to the top with a succession of very high quality tracks that combined the popular Parisian funky "filter disco" sound of the time and combined it with very clean, bass-heavy production. Dancefloors went wild for the sound over the course of the next 10 years.
To date, Subliminal has released almost 200 records and spawned a half-dozen new sub-labels, each with its own distinct sound: Bambossa Records; Sondos; Subliminal Soul; Subliminal Subsonic; Subusa; Texture Recordings; What Goes Around.
Wrapping up the March lineup is a performance by German wunderkinds Mashtronic on March 28.
One of Europe's hottest and most prolific electro mashup acts with over 70 tracks completed in just over four years, Mashtronic is an incredible follow-up to the huge success of last week's show by mash-pop madmen The Young Punx, and add to the list of groundbreaking all-star mashup artists/DJs that have rocked jam-packed crowds at Club Bonbon over the past two years including Simian Mobile Disco, 2ManyDjs, Basement Jaxx' Felix B, Arthur Baker, Felix da Housecat, and The Scratch Perverts.
Mashtronic's March 28 gig at Club Bonbon is the first appearance of the duo in China, and marks the continuation of an intense springtime schedule of mash up DJs/producers from all over the world that will continue throughout the summer.
