Hong Kong Promotes Tourism in Beijing

Hong Kong has designated the year 2006 as "Fancy Hong Kong Tourism Year."

A promotion with the theme of "Fancy Hong Kong, Wonderful Trip" was launched in Beijing on Monday.

According to the People's Daily, Hong Kong hopes to open new attractions from now and into 2006, including the long-waited Hong Kong Disneyland, which will see its first visitors this September.

Hong Kong tourism officials say the number of global visitors to Hong Kong reached a new record last year, totaling 21.8 million, half of which were from the Chinese mainland. At the same time, over 6 million Hong Kong people visited the Chinese mainland.
