US telecom giant Lucent Technologies reveals that it has fired the president of its China operations and three other chiefs for suspected corruption.
An audit by Lucent and investigation by outside counsel into the China operations have unearthed incidents and internal control deficiencies that may breach the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
Lucent has reported the findings to the Justice Department and the market regulator, the Securities and Exchange Commission.
The four including the president, the chief operating officer, a marketing executive, and a finance manager have left the company.
