US-based communications technologies giant Lucent is to set up a 3G development center in the capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.
The center will specialize in the research and development of the third-generation mobile communications technologies supporting CDMA and WCDMA, according to the company on Tuesday.
Expected to be operational on September 1, the center will promote Lucent's mobile communications technologies not only in China, but worldwide, the company said.
Lucent's China development center will employ more than 100 engineers for its initial programs, the company noted.
