Shanghai-based Fudan University, one of the prestigious institutions of higher learning in China, has recruited the dean for its Institute of Life Science through a worldwide search.
Professor Jin Li, an established life science expert from the University of Cincinnati in the United States, beat more than 40 other applicants to become the dean of the institute for a three-year term. Prof. Jin is the first dean employed through international recruitment by Fudan.
Prof. Jin is renowned for his academic attainments in anthropologic studies, particularly relating to the origin of the Chinese Nation.
The recruitment of the new chief for the Institute of Life Science has been conducted in compliance with strict principles, and the university has set up a special committee composed of officials and experts for the purpose.
Prof. Jin told Xinhua that he would try to create a free academic environment for the teaching faculties to relieve them of trivialities.
