The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) celebrated its 25th founding anniversary in Beijing Wednesday, when awards for the academy's 4th scientific research results and the 2nd outstanding scientific periodicals were given.
CASS President Li Tieying, who is member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said at the celebrations that wide-ranging and profounding changes have taken place in economic, political, cultural and ideological fields in China over the past 25 years.
This has offered great practical opportunities for the progress of social sciences.
He praised the CASS's work in offering consulting services to the central authorities for policy making, and in the research of theoretical issues concerning Party building, the legal system and labor.
He also spoke highly of the academy's wide academic exchanges and cooperation with foreign institutes in more than 80 countries and regions around the world.
