Scientific Expertise Available Online
The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) recently launched a computerized database providing information on its own scientists and experts and their achievements.

Web-surfers can now freely gain information about all CAS academicians and more than 2,000 senior researchers from the academy through the website, www.connect.ac.cn.

When interviewed by Xinhua on Tuesday, Shen Guihua, a CAS official working in the area of human resources management, said that people from many areas throughout the country want to gain access to market-oriented applied technology while CAS scientists are trying hard to industrialize their academic achievements.

"The website will become a bridge linking the two sides," Shen said.

Subsidiary institutions of the CAS will regularly publicize their achievements on the site. Meanwhile, local governments and businesses can make requests through the website, Shen said.

In the two-week trial, more than 5,000 netizens have visited the site.
