A senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has asked China's radio, film and television industry to make full use of new and high technology, including digital technology and Internet technology, in their development.
Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks Thursday evening during his visit of an ongoing international radio, film and television exposition held in Beijing.
After having visited a number of booths featuring the application of digital radio and television broadcast in some cities, he said the radio, film and television sectors should adopt modern new and high technologies extensively to improve the level of their equipment and transmission, establish new information platform for the society and provide new services to the public.
He said digital television should be promoted in cities where the conditions are ripe. In places where digital television has been introduced, further efforts should be made to enrich the content, improve the service and meet the demand of the masses as much as possible.
The exposition opened Tuesday and will close Saturday. It includes an exhibition of film and TV programs, an exhibition of radio, film and TV equipment and a forum on the development of China's radio, film and television sectors.
