Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan met in Beijing Thursday with Minister of Veterans Affairs of Mozambique Antonio Hama Thay and his party.
Cao, also vice-chairman of China's Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said the two sides had cooperated effectively in various fields with profound friendship.
He said exchanges of high-level visits enhanced mutual understanding and trust.
China's armed forces were willing to contribute to further friendly cooperation.
He also appreciated the Mozambique government's adherence to the one-China principle and support to China on the human rights issue.
Hama Thay said Mozambique valued cooperation with China and Mozambique's people were grateful for the long-term support from China.
He said Mozambique would unswervingly support China's reunification. (Xinhua News Agency September 12, 2003)
