Wu Guanzheng, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), met in Beijing Tuesday with Tong Thi Pgong, a member of the Secretariat of Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), and her party.
He said that the Chinese and Vietnamese sides have followed the principles of "long-term stability, future orientation, good neighborliness and multi-faceted cooperation" in recent years, and Sino-Vietnamese ties can be characterized as trusting and supporting each other and promoting cooperation and development.
He noted that furthering Sino-Vietnamese ties is the common aspiration of the two sides, and in conformity with the fundamental interest of the two countries and their people.
He said that the CPC and the Chinese government value the relations with Vietnam, and is ready to promote mutual trust and common prosperity and take Vietnam as China's everlasting good friend and neighbor.
Tong Thi Pgong said she is pleased to see the achievement China has made in economic and social development, adding that Vietnam will learn from China on pushing forward reform, party construction, and social stability.
She also said Vietnam will follow the principles established by the leaders of Vietnam and China to advance the relations between the two parties and countries. (Xinhua News Agency September 10, 2003)
