A reception was held in Beijing Friday to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Sino-Spanish diplomatic ties.
Visiting Queen Sofia of Spain attended the reception.
Chen Haosu, president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said Sino-Spanish relations had developed steadily with frequent high-level visits and cooperation in economic, cultural and scientific areas since the establishment of diplomatic ties.
Queen Sofia's visit at this special time injected new impetus to the friendly and cooperative relations, he said, expressing his hope that such relations could be further promoted with the concerted efforts of the two sides.
Miguel Angel Cortes, Spain's State Secretary for International Cooperation, addressed the reception, saying China's achievements under reform and opening up policy had attracted worldwide attention.
Cooperation between China and Spain in various fields had been fruitful since the establishment of diplomatic ties in 1973, he said.
The two could enjoy great prospects for future cooperation and Spain was willing have closer relations with China.
The reception was held by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries.
